More Success for Welwyn Wheelers

Laura Trott, Welwyn Wheelers (who train at Gosling Sports Park) first ever World Cycling Champion, had an amazing set of results at last week’s National Junior Track Championships at Newport. Laura won the Junior Pursuit Gold medal plus the Gold medal in the Points race and 500m Time trial.
Clubmate Vicky Williamson won the Junior Sprint Gold medal and was second to Laura in the 500m Time trial. Welwyn Wheeler’s also had a Silver medal in U12 boy’s omnium, Jack Plumley. Following her success at Newport, Laura Trott won the National Women’s 800m Grass track title at Mildenhall. Laura and her sister Emma have also been selected to ride for England in the Commonwealth Games in India in October, congratulations!

Congratulations to Laura Trott (who trains at Gosling Sports Park with cycling club, Welwyn Wheelers) on becoming the first Welwyn Wheelers World Champion. Click here to see Laura's winning moment .
Laura won the Junior Womens Omnium at the World Junior Championships in Italy on Sunday. In addition she also won Silver medals in the Individual Pursuit and the Points race.
Also competing at the Junior World Track Championships was Welwyns Victoria Williamson who was 5th in the 500m time trial. An impressive - two Welwyn riders at the Junior Worlds!

There will be a talk from Gareth Morgan on the 2012 Olympics followed by a presentation from Management Team about the Sports Park’s latest achievements & challenges ahead. TIMI WINS WOMEN'S ITF $25,000

Gosling's Timea (Babos) won her biggest professional title to date at the weekend - winning the Women’s ITF (International Tennis Federation) $25,000 event in Woking, Surrey. Timea beat some big name players such as second seed Sania Mirza, India (former world top 20 player) and Brit Laura Robson. Read more here.

Congratulations to Gosling's Timea Babos who has just won her second consecutive Grand Slam title at Wimbledon taking her World Junior ranking to No.3
Timi & doubles partner Sloane Stephens (USA) won Girl's Doubles title (following their recent French Open Grand Slam win), in a three set match 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 against Irina Khromacheva (RUS) & Elina Svitolina (UKR). Read more here.

Gosling Tennis Juniors get ready for Wimbledon

Tara Moore has just represented Great Britain at the Maureen Connolly (U18 British girls V US girls). Moore won both her singles & the team narrowly lost on set count back. Timea (Babos), Tara, Rob (Carter), Ellie (Ball) all played in the Grade 1 ITF Junior Event pre Wimbledon. Timi & Tara have won their opening two matches, as they get ready for Junior Wimbledon which starts this Saturday. Good luck!
